It all began with the desire to make a bagel reminiscent of the ones we enjoyed on the East Coast.

Dan’s Bagels was born out of the circumstances of the COVID pandemic. But during this extremely unusual time lay an amazing opportunity. It has been proven over and over again that difficult social and economic periods are filled with the beginnings of some of the most successful companies in the world. We believe we are one of those remarkable exceptions.

While being quarantined indoors, food became the center of gravity for our family. That gave birth to the desire for bagels that Jen and I had enjoyed while living on the East Coast for over 30 years. We yearned for a legit bagel - one that was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. We missed the hustle and bustle of local neighborhood bagel shops offering scratch-made bagels and made-to-order sandwiches. Never would we enter one of those places without the upbeat noises and amazing bakery smells hitting us right, smack in the face.

So, we went for it.

Jen and I quit our corporate jobs and established Dan’s Bagels in April 2020. We started selling bagels out of our home - offering online preorders for pickup. The watershed moment was in November 2020. Word of mouth and buzz for our bagels ignited a demand we had not seen before. The result? We sold 1,000 bagels in 7 minutes.

Our first brick & mortar shop opened its doors on August 3, 2021 in Trophy Club, TX - the community we lived in and the place that gave birth to Dan’s Bagels.

Opening a bagel shop didn’t seem possible, especially during a global pandemic. But we knew our initial success along with some grit and determination could create something very special - and the evidence shows that we have.
